The Teknetics G2+ Metal Detector is a lightweight, high-frequency VLF detector designed for serious coin hunting, relic hunting, jewelry hunting, and searching for small, low-conductivity targets.
Operating at 19 kHz, the G2+ provides excellent sensitivity to small targets while offering the ground-balancing and iron-handling controls needed for mineralized soil and challenging detecting sites.
This configuration includes an 11" open-frame Bi-Axial DD waterproof search coil, giving you excellent ground coverage, target separation, and performance in mineralized conditions.
With 1–99 numeric Target ID, GroundGrab® computerized ground balancing, manual ground balance, FeTone® adjustable iron audio, V-Break® tone discrimination, notch discrimination, and dedicated pinpointing, the G2+ offers substantially more control than a basic turn-on-and-go detector while remaining lightweight at approximately 2.5 pounds.
19 kHz Operating Frequency – Provides excellent sensitivity to small and lower-conductivity targets, including small jewelry, relics, and other difficult targets.
11" Waterproof Bi-Axial DD Search Coil – Offers wide ground coverage, strong target separation, and good performance in mineralized soil.
1–99 Numeric Target ID – Gives you detailed visual target information before you dig.
GroundGrab® Ground Balance – Quickly compensates for ground mineralization using computerized ground balancing.
Manual Ground Balance – Gives experienced detectorists additional control in changing or difficult soil conditions.
FeTone® Adjustable Iron Audio – Lets you control the audio response from iron targets for more comfortable hunting in iron-contaminated locations.
Enhanced V-Break® Tone Discrimination – Provides greater control over how targets are represented through audio.
All Metal Mode – Offers maximum target response when you want to hear everything beneath the coil.
Discrimination + Notch Mode – Helps reject unwanted targets while preserving the target ranges you want to investigate.
99-Level Sensitivity Adjustment – Provides fine control over detector sensitivity for changing ground and EMI conditions.
20-Level Volume Adjustment – Allows audio output to be set to a comfortable level for different hunting environments.
3-Tone Audio Feedback – Provides additional target information without requiring constant attention to the display.
Dedicated Pinpoint Mode – Helps locate the center of a detected target for faster recovery.
Adjustable LCD Backlight – Improves display visibility when detecting in low-light conditions.
Digital Depth Indicator – Provides an estimate of target depth.
Ground Mineralization Information – Helps you understand changing soil conditions while hunting.
Lightweight Construction – Weighs approximately 2.5 pounds for comfortable extended detecting sessions.
20–25 Hour Battery Life – Operates on a single 9V alkaline battery.
The G2+ is an excellent choice for detectorists who want more ground control and target information than an entry-level machine while keeping the detector lightweight and responsive.
It is particularly well suited for:
Relic hunting
Coin shooting
Jewelry hunting
Searching old home sites
Iron-heavy detecting locations
Mineralized soil
Small and low-conductivity targets
Experienced hobbyists wanting adjustable ground balance
Detectorists who prefer a lightweight high-frequency VLF machine
Its 19 kHz operating frequency also makes the G2+ particularly responsive to smaller targets that can be more difficult for lower-frequency general-purpose detectors to detect.
The G2+ operates at 19 kHz, giving it strong sensitivity to small and lower-conductivity metal targets.
This makes it a useful detector for finding:
Small jewelry
Thin coins
Small relics
Low-conductivity targets
Small metallic objects in mineralized ground
The higher operating frequency is especially useful when target sensitivity and separation are more important than simply searching for large, highly conductive objects.
The included 11-inch open-frame Bi-Axial DD search coil provides a useful combination of depth, ground coverage, and target separation.
The DD coil configuration is particularly beneficial when working in mineralized soil because it generally maintains more consistent ground performance than a comparable concentric coil.
Its larger 11-inch footprint also allows you to cover more ground with each sweep, making it a strong choice for fields, relic sites, parks, and larger detecting areas.
The search coil is waterproof, allowing the coil to be used in wet grass and shallow water.
The detector's control housing, however, is not waterproof or weatherproof and should always be kept dry.
Mineralized soil can create unwanted signals and reduce detector stability.
The G2+ includes GroundGrab® computerized ground balancing, allowing the detector to quickly compensate for the mineral content of the soil.
This makes it easier to move between locations with changing ground conditions without spending excessive time manually adjusting the detector.
Experienced users can also manually adjust ground balance.
Manual control is particularly useful when:
Soil mineralization changes frequently
Hunting difficult relic sites
Working around highly mineralized ground
Fine-tuning detector response is important
Having both GroundGrab and manual adjustment lets you choose between fast setup and more precise control.
The G2+ uses a 1–99 numeric Target ID system to help identify targets before digging.
The LCD provides a numerical representation of the detected target's conductivity, allowing you to compare signals and build familiarity with common coins, trash, jewelry, and relic targets.
Target ID should always be considered together with audio response, target repeatability, depth, ground conditions, and target orientation.
Iron-heavy detecting sites can produce constant low-value target responses.
The G2+'s FeTone® adjustable iron audio gives you greater control over the volume of ferrous targets.
Instead of completely eliminating iron information, you can reduce its prominence while continuing to hear potentially desirable non-ferrous targets nearby.
This can be especially valuable at:
Old home sites
Relic locations
Farm fields
Demolition sites
Areas containing large numbers of nails
The V-Break® tone discrimination system provides additional control over the detector's audio response.
By changing where different target responses fall within the audio system, you can customize the G2+ around your preferred targets and hunting conditions.
Combined with numeric Target ID and FeTone iron audio, V-Break gives experienced detectorists several ways to evaluate targets before deciding whether to recover them.
The G2+ provides two primary search configurations:
All Metal Mode is designed to provide maximum information from targets beneath the coil and is useful when you do not want potentially valuable targets rejected by discrimination.
Discrimination Mode allows unwanted target responses to be reduced or rejected.
Notch functionality provides additional flexibility by allowing selected portions of the target range to be accepted or rejected rather than relying only on basic linear discrimination.
This makes the G2+ adaptable to everything from relatively clean relic sites to trashier parks and public hunting locations.
After identifying a target, use the dedicated Pinpoint function to narrow down its exact location.
Pinpointing helps determine the center of the target beneath the search coil, reducing unnecessary digging and making target recovery faster and cleaner.
The G2+ provides 99 levels of sensitivity adjustment.
This gives you significantly finer control than detectors with only a handful of preset sensitivity levels.
In stable conditions, higher sensitivity can be used to maximize detection performance. Around electrical interference, difficult soil, or unstable ground conditions, sensitivity can be reduced until detector operation becomes stable.
An adjustable LCD backlight makes the display easier to read during:
Early-morning hunts
Evening detecting
Shaded locations
Low-light conditions
Because the backlight is adjustable rather than simply on or off, it can be configured around current visibility conditions.
