The Teknetics EuroTek Metal Detector is a lightweight, easy-to-use VLF detector built for coin hunting, jewelry hunting, relic hunting, and general treasure detecting. Operating at 7.81 kHz, it combines straightforward controls with a high-resolution 1–99 numeric Target ID, adjustable discrimination, 2-tone audio identification, and useful iron identification.
This EuroTek package includes an 8" waterproof concentric search coil, giving detectorists precise target response and manageable coverage in parks, yards, fields, old home sites, and other general detecting locations.
At approximately 2.4 pounds, the EuroTek is comfortable enough for long detecting sessions and simple enough for beginners while still providing the target information experienced hobbyists expect.
8" Waterproof Concentric Search Coil – Provides precise target response and good separation while allowing the search coil to be used in wet grass, damp ground, and shallow water.
7.81 kHz VLF Frequency – A versatile operating frequency suited to coins, jewelry, relics, and general-purpose detecting.
1–99 Numeric Target ID – Provides a two-digit conductivity reading to help evaluate targets before digging.
39-Point Iron Identification Range – Ferrous targets register from 1–39, providing useful information when searching iron-heavy locations.
Adjustable Discrimination – Set discrimination from 0–79 to reduce responses from unwanted lower-conductivity targets.
2-Tone Audio Target ID – Uses VCO audio for targets below 80 and a high tone for targets with IDs of 80 and above.
10-Level Sensitivity Adjustment – Fine-tune sensitivity from 1–10 based on site conditions and electromagnetic interference.
3-Segment Depth Indicator – Provides an approximate visual indication of target depth for coin-sized objects.
Preset Ground Compensation – Helps reduce responses from naturally occurring ground minerals without requiring manual ground-balance adjustments.
Fast Target Response – Helps distinguish targets located close together, particularly in areas containing iron and other trash.
Settings Memory – Sensitivity and discrimination settings can be stored for future detecting sessions.
Overload Warning – Alerts you when a large metal object or highly magnetic ground is too close to the search coil.
Battery Level Indicator – Provides an easy visual reference for remaining battery power.
1/4" Headphone Jack – Connect compatible detecting headphones for more private and detailed audio.
Lightweight Design – Weighs approximately 2.4 lbs for comfortable extended hunting.
20–25 Hour Battery Life – Runs on a single 9V alkaline battery.
The EuroTek is a strong choice for detectorists who want straightforward operation without giving up useful Target ID and discrimination controls.
It is particularly well suited for:
Beginners learning metal detecting
Coin shooting in parks and yards
Jewelry hunting
Relic hunting
Searching older properties and fields
Detecting in iron-heavy locations
Hobbyists who prefer a lightweight detector
Users looking for a simple general-purpose VLF detector
Its combination of numeric Target ID, adjustable discrimination, fast response, and low weight makes it especially practical for recreational detecting.
The EuroTek displays detected targets using a 1–99 numeric Target ID scale.
Higher numbers generally represent more conductive targets, while lower readings typically represent iron and other lower-conductivity metals.
Ferrous targets generally fall within the 1–39 range, giving you more information about iron targets instead of simply treating all iron as one category.
Because target readings can vary depending on depth, orientation, soil conditions, and the target itself, Target ID should be used together with the detector's audio response when deciding whether to dig.
The EuroTek uses a simple linear discrimination system ranging from 0–79.
Choose a discrimination value and targets with IDs at or below that setting can be rejected. This makes it easy to reduce responses from unwanted iron and other low-conductivity trash when searching busy parks, yards, and older detecting sites.
For example, setting discrimination to 39 allows the detector to reject the normal ferrous Target ID range.
Visual Target ID works together with a simple 2-tone audio system.
Targets with IDs below 80 produce a VCO response, where pitch and volume can change according to signal strength. Targets with an ID of 80 or higher produce a high tone.
This allows you to evaluate targets both visually and by sound without constantly watching the display.
The included 8-inch round concentric search coil is waterproof and offers a useful balance of target separation, maneuverability, and general detecting coverage.
Its relatively compact size is particularly useful in:
Trashy parks
Residential yards
Areas around trees and obstacles
Iron-contaminated sites
Tighter detecting locations
The search coil is waterproof, but the detector's control housing is not waterproof or weatherproof. Keep the control box dry when searching near water.
Sensitivity can be adjusted from 1 through 10.
Higher settings can provide maximum available detection performance under stable conditions. If electromagnetic interference or difficult site conditions cause false signals or erratic operation, sensitivity can be reduced until the detector becomes stable.
The EuroTek uses a preset ground-elimination system, so there is no manual ground-balance adjustment to configure before hunting.
This helps keep operation simple for newer detectorists who want a turn-on-and-go detector without regularly adjusting ground balance.
A 3-segment depth indicator provides an estimate of the depth of coin-sized targets.
Fewer bars generally indicate a shallower target, while more bars indicate a deeper response. Target size and other conditions can affect the reading, so the depth display should be treated as an estimate rather than an exact measurement.
The standard EuroTek does not have a dedicated electronic Pinpoint mode.
Targets are pinpointed using the traditional "X-ing" method. After locating a repeatable signal, shorten your side-to-side sweeps over the target, then sweep from another direction to narrow down its exact location.
A handheld pinpointer can also be added separately for faster target recovery.
Once you've found sensitivity and discrimination settings that work well for your hunting conditions, the EuroTek allows those settings to be stored.
The detector can then resume operation using the saved SENS and DISC settings the next time it is powered on.
