The Garrett Vortex VX9 Multi-Frequency Waterproof Metal Detector bundle combines Garrett’s most advanced Vortex detector with two wireless accessories for target recovery and audio. The Vortex VX9 is designed for detectorists who want the full range of frequency, target identification, and recovery controls in the Vortex series. It provides more frequency choices, search modes, and adjustable settings than the lower Vortex models.
Its three-tier MD-MF Target ID display shows target information across ferrous and non-ferrous scales. Adjustable Recovery Speed, Iron Boundary, and Bottlecap Reject settings let you tailor the detector’s response to different sites. The VX9’s three-tier MD-MF Target ID system displays target information on separate ferrous and non-ferrous scales. The additional scales can help you assess complex signals, including targets that may contain both ferrous and non-ferrous properties.
Target ID is a guide to help you decide which signals to investigate. Ground conditions, target depth, nearby objects, and the target’s shape and orientation can affect readings, so no display can identify every object with certainty before it is recovered.

The VX9 provides three Recovery Speed settings. Recovery Speed controls how quickly the detector responds as the searchcoil moves between targets. A faster setting can be useful when targets are close together, such as in a trashy park or a busy search area. Other settings, target conditions, and sweep technique also affect how well nearby targets can be distinguished.
Fast Mode is designed for competition hunts and locations with closely spaced targets or substantial trash. It gives detectorists a dedicated search option when they want a faster detector response in challenging areas.
Thin Coins Mode is designed for fine, lower-conductive targets, including hammered silver and thin gold coins. This dedicated mode gives detectorists another option when searching for small or thin targets that may produce different signals from larger coins.
The VX9 provides six Bottlecap Reject settings in Multi-Frequency operation. These settings allow you to adjust how the detector responds to bottlecaps and similar unwanted targets. You can choose a setting based on the amount of bottlecap trash at your site and the targets you want to recover.
Six Iron Boundary settings are available in Multi-Frequency operation. This feature lets you adjust the detector’s iron response to suit the site and your preferences. Combined with the three-tier Target ID display and high-resolution iron discrimination, it gives you more ways to evaluate signals in areas containing iron trash.
The VX9 includes Notch Discrimination and High-Resolution Iron Discrimination. These controls help you manage which types of target responses you want to accept or reject. Adjust discrimination carefully, since rejecting more signals may also affect whether some desirable targets are detected.
The VX9 offers selectable 2-tone, 3-tone, and 5-tone audio options. Different tone choices provide different ways to hear target responses, while volume control lets you adjust the detector’s signal level. The CS-3 Z-Lynk Wireless Headphones included in this bundle provide volume control on the headphones as well.
The Vortex VX9 has built-in Garrett Z-Lynk wireless technology. The Garrett PRO-Pointer AT Z-Lynk is a handheld pinpointer that helps you locate a target more precisely after the VX9 signals it. Its wireless connection can send pinpointer alerts to compatible Z-Lynk headphones, so you can hear both detector and pinpointer alarms through the CS-3 headphones.
